Colorado Springs offers a lot of tourist attractions.
Pikes Peak
Pikes Peak is the stunning 14,110-foot (4.300 meters) mountain sitting in the western backdrop of Colorado Springs. An 1893 excursion to the top of Pikes Peak gave Katharine Lee Bates' inspiration to pen the words to the song, "America the Beautiful". There are several ways to get to the top of Pikes Peak: you can hike the 13-mile (21 km) Barr Trail, drive the 19-mile (30 km) Pikes Peak Toll Highway, or ride the 8.9-mile (14 km) Cog Railway. The Pikes Peak Cog Railway takes about three hours roundtrip from the station in Manitou to the Pikes Peak Summit House. Visitors at the top will be rewarded with spectacular views, but should limit their visit to only 30 or 40 minutes to avoid altitude sickness.
North Pole Home of Santa's Workshop
A favorite family attraction located at the foot of Pikes Peak is the family theme park known as the North Pole Home of Santa's Workshop. Santa and his elves have been welcoming visitors there since 1956. The park has more than two dozen rides including the Enterprise Space Shuttle and an Antique Carousel. Visitor can take a ride on the Miniature Train, fly thought the sky on the Aerial Tram and feed Santa's goats and llamas. Shows are performed though out the day, and there are many shops and eating areas in the park.
Garden of the Gods
The Garden of the Gods is a beautiful 1392-acre (563-hectare) public park and a Registered National Natural Landmark located only minutes from downtown Colorado Springs. The area is filled with striking sandstone formations with a nice view of Pikes Peak. The Garden of the Gods has a visitor and Nature Center which are both free of charge. The area is a great place to explore the outdoors as a hiker, mountain biker, or rock climber. Guided walks and horseback rides are available to visitors. It is also a favorite scenic wedding location.
Cheyenne Mountain Zoo
The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is the only mountain zoo in the United States. It is located in the Pikes Peak region and is home to more than 750 animals including 32 endangered species. There is plenty to do at this zoo. A refurbished antique Zoo Carousel is open daily during the summer months and on weekends, and during the remaining months when weather permits. A tram that has eight stops around the zoo is also open on the same schedule.
#Cave of the Winds##The Cave of the Winds, located in Manitou Springs only eight miles (14 km) from downtown Colorado Springs, holds 200 million years of geological history and has been a commercial attraction since 1880. It is filled with beautiful limestone stalactites and flowstone curtains. Guided tours are available year round including a traditional tour or a lantern guided tour.

Palmer Park
A ridge of bluffs - Austin Bluffs - runs along what used to be the eastern edge of Colorado Springs. Large swaths of these scrubby, cliffy hills were set aside as a city park, and the view from the top is outstanding. Try to arrive early in the morning, when the sun is at your back as you capture photos of the mountains and city. This is a good place to get an overview of Colorado Springs. Picnic tables are scattered about and some overlooks have interpretive signs to help families understand the view they are studying.
Garden of the Gods
From the view on top of Austin Bluffs, the tall, rocky shapes of Garden of the Gods Park are clearly visible at the foot of Pikes Peak. From I-25, take Garden of the Gods Road west and follow the signs to this National Natural Landmark. The geologic wonders make a spectacular foreground for photographers standing on the front deck of the visitor’s center and taking pictures of Pikes Peak.
Air Force Academy
With the escarpments of the Rampart Range in the background, the Air Force Academy is arguably the most scenic of all military academies. The rugged surroundings make a striking contrast with the sharp, clean lines of the Academy's architecture. It is a show that intrigues even the smallest visitors. Personnel are on hand at the viewing area in front of the Cadet Chapel to answer questions.
Cheyenne Mountain Zoo
This zoo is one of the best attractions for families in all of Colorado. The animal park is built on the side of Cheyenne Mountain, west of Colorado Springs, and so has a vertical element unmatched anywhere else. The animal exhibits stretch up the mountainside, through boulders and trees, making an interesting viewing opportunity for kids. Children must learn to let their eyes adjust to the shapes in the woods, so they can pick out and watch the creatures. A paved road winds up through the zoo, and before they know it, kids have climbed up the side of the mountain. Don't miss feeding the giraffes and the chairlift ride up the mountain through the center of the zoo.
#Pikes Peak Cog Railway##Pikes Peak inspired the song, "America the Beautiful" and its soaring form dominates the western side of Colorado Springs. A train ride to the summit is a great opportunity for kids. It lets them see the changing life zones as they ride from foothills to alpine tundra. They breathe air that's thin, watch clouds blow by, and know that snow is likely any month of the year on top. And they can experience the spacious skies, amber waves of grain, and purple mountains majesty of America's Mountain for themselves.
Night Life
With authentic pubs and a vibrant nightlife, Colorado Springs offers exciting experiences long after the sun goes down. Join a Tuesday night run followed by beers and brats or stroll Tejon Street looking for unique bookstores and bars. Downtown Colorado Springs is filled with unique personality and fantastic charm.
Ritz Grill
Although The Ritz is one heck of a nightspot in which to hang out, socialize and hear good music from a very impressive house sound system, their food (especially the sandwiches) is worth mentioning as well. Locals love the bar, which is the center point of the room.
Phantom Canyon
Situated in the historic Cheyenne Building, this popular spot is yet another great option for those looking for brewhouse hangouts in the Springs. It is also one of the most popular restaurants in the city and is credited for contributing to the downtown revitalization. You can sit anywhere and benefit from the huge windows that afford great views of the mountains and downtown. It's usually busy, which means noise, but if you are visiting a place like this, you'll probably be making some noise of your own as well. The second floor is devoted to pool, with twelve tournament style billiard tables, a jukebox, another bar, and great views.
Jack Quinn's
This authentic Irish pub is complete with dark wooded interior and booths enclosed with stained glass for semi-privacy. The bar is a focal point, and meeting rooms upstairs allow for group functions. Traditional Irish favorites feature prominently on the menu, and the bar offers a regular schedule of live music.
Rum Bay
Part of a block-long complex of hot nightspots, Rum Bay sports tropical décor and a large selection of rum. The energy kicks into high-gear later in the evening and on weekends, when DJs spin a variety of tunes calculated to get you up on your feet and moving to the groove. Alternatively, you can check out the dueling pianos next door, or head to the tiny Sam's Bar for a little quiet time in closer quarters. There is also tequila and bourbon bars to investigate if rum isn't your thing.
#Underground##After showing that proof positive ID, you may enter either the large pool hall area or the dance floor to enjoy one of Colorado Springs favorite gathering spots. With three distinct bars, The Pub, The Back Room, and The Boiler Room, there's something for everyone.
